Delivery, pickup and service areas

Telling a customer up front whether you deliver, whether they can collect, and what delivery costs to their area saves a whole round of back-and-forth messages, and the customer sees the real final price before they ever send the request.

How to set it up

  • Log in to Caterway.
  • Open Settings and then Service areas.
  • Add the areas you deliver to and give each one its own price. Use a name the customer will recognise, for example "Espoo" or "Helsinki city centre".
  • If you like, set a free delivery over amount, for example 400 €. Orders above it get delivery at no charge.
  • Save.
Whether a calculator delivers or is collected is chosen in the calculator builder, on the Basic tab under How customers receive their order: We deliver, We deliver and serve, Customer collects, or At our venue. This page is only where the areas, their prices and the thresholds live.

Why the customer picks an area from a list

The customer chooses their area from the list you made, they do not type a postcode. This is on purpose: matching postcodes goes wrong the moment you work across a border, and you are never held to an area you did not define yourself. You decide the areas, the customer picks from them.

When the area is not on the list

If the customer's area is not there, the request is not lost. You decide what happens: it still reaches you as normal, but it never confirms automatically, because there is no price for that area yet. That way you never commit to a delivery you cannot make.

The delivery fee on the quote

The delivery fee shows on the quote as its own line, just like a product, and it is added into the same total. So the price the customer sees and the price you see are always the same, and it is counted exactly once. Pickup never adds a delivery fee.

Good to know

  • The free-delivery threshold compares the products total, not a total that already includes the fee.
  • If an area has both a general price and a per-calculator price, the per-calculator price wins.
  • Pickup and delivery can both be on at once, and the customer chooses which they want.
