Import a menu with AI
Typing a whole menu in by hand is the slowest part of getting started. If you already have it as a document or a PDF, let Caterway read it and draft the products for you. You always see the result and approve it before anything is saved, so a misread price never sneaks into a live calculator.
How to import
- Log in to Caterway.
- Open Products from the menu on the left.
- Press Import with AI at the top of the page.
- Choose how to give Caterway the menu:
- Files: drop a PDF or an image, one or several. A PDF can be up to 8 MB.
- Paste text: paste the menu straight in as text.
- Press Start import and wait a moment while it reads.
- Check the drafted products: names, descriptions and prices. Fix anything that came through wrong, and untick anything you do not want.
- Confirm, and the ones you kept are added to your products.
Why the review step matters
A model reading a scanned or photographed menu will occasionally misread a price or a name. The review step is there so you catch that before it reaches a customer. Read the prices especially, they are the one thing worth a second look every time.
Good to know
- Nothing is saved until you confirm at the review step, so importing to see what it finds costs you nothing.
- You can import more than once, for example a lunch list and a party menu separately.
- Imported products behave exactly like ones you added by hand: you can price, photograph and group them afterwards.
