Give one product its own volume pricing
Your global discount tiers work for most of the menu, larger parties get a lower per-person price. But your signature dessert might not scale the same way, or one category might deserve its own curve entirely.
Pro feature
Per-item and per-category pricing tiers are a Pro feature. Your global discount tiers (Products & Menu → Global Pricing Tiers) stay free on every plan, this article covers all three levels but only the first two need an upgrade.
The three levels
CaterWay checks pricing in this order, the most specific setting always wins:
| Level | Where | Overrides | Plan |
|---|
| Product | Inside a product, under Volume discount (optional) | Category and global tiers | Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| Category | Products & Menu → Categories, the Set Pricing Tiers button on a category card | Global tiers | Pro |
| Global | Products & Menu → Global Pricing Tiers tab | Nothing, it's the default | Free |
Setting product-level tiers
- Open the product and expand Volume discount (optional).
- Click Add Tier, then set a guest range and discount percentage.
- Leave it empty and the product falls back to any active category or global tiers instead, whichever applies.
Setting category-level tiers
- Go to Products & Menu → Categories.
- Click Set Pricing Tiers on the category card.
- Add guest ranges and discounts the same way, they apply to every product in that category that doesn't have its own tiers.
A concrete example
A "10–25 guests, 5% off" global tier applies to your whole menu. Your platter category gets its own "10–25 guests, 15% off" tier because platters scale better in bulk. One specific platter product gets "10–25 guests, 25% off" because you want to push it. That product uses 25%, the rest of the category uses 15%, everything else uses the global 5%.
